Getting Out Wasn’t Enough
A memoir by Michael Baker
If you know me through real estate, there are a few things we didn’t cover at the closing table.
After my parents divorced, I grew up going back and forth between Chicago and the suburbs. Somewhere along the way, I became very confident in making bad decisions. You’ll find a lot of examples of that in this book.
Getting Out Wasn’t Enough covers gang life, addiction, and prison, along with the people I loved, the ones I lost, and the years I spent building a life after getting out. Fatherhood, work, relationships, and eventually a real estate development business all became part of that story.
I tell it the way I talk, including the parts I probably should’ve kept to myself.
About Mike
